Originating in the Victorian era, this shoe was originally designed as a practical boot for Queen Victoria. The classic style features an ankle-grazing cut, elasticated side gussets, a flat or low stacked heel, a pull-on tab for ease and a rounded toe for comfort. Traditionally, this boot came in black or tan leather.
The style was later adopted by the equestrian community and gained popularity again in the 50s and 60s thanks to The Beatles and other pop culture icons. It became known as the ‘Chelsea boot’ during this period when it was favoured by the stylish figures of London’s affluent Chelsea neighbourhood.
