Shouz Staff Profiles - Meet Annette, Our Founder
Shouz Staff Profiles - Meet Annette, Our Founder
Annette needs no introduction - our breakfast-ice-cream-in-a-mug-loving founder is the real OG. Paving the way for herself in 1979 in a male-dominated industry is testament to her character and nerves of steel. We - literally - would not be here today if it weren’t for her. She’s hard to miss buzzing around in-store in her chic bob and eclectic style. But what you may not know about her (and what we certainly didn’t know) is that she has a secret talent that even got her featured in a couple of books. #superstar

Give us a funny, interesting, quirky fact about yourself:
-I was once, a long time ago, a little bit handy with a table tennis bat (She was an Australian Champion in her division and is in a book or 2 about table tennis! )

-1979 (she’s the real OG)
What do you enjoy most about working here?
-I love working on the shop floor and seeing customers who have shopped with me for over 40 years. I love seeing people come in and find a product they can't get elsewhere and leave feeling thrilled. I love the community that Shouz has built and that wherever I go - supermarket, out for dinner - I always see our customers’ familiar faces.
Favourite shoe trend of the season and how people can shop it at Shouz?
-Sneakers are incredibly popular at the moment. We have an enormous variety from something plain and simple like the Finni to a stud of stone-embellished, fancy versions like the Nowe!
Favourite Shouz brand?
-Django & Juliette - they tick all the boxes. They're well-priced, fashionable, functional, and unique. Their ranges are so versatile and have something for everybody. I love that they’re a family-owned business and designed by one of my dear friends, Kerrie who pours her heart into creating these ranges.
Current favourite style we stock?
-Django & Juliette Kruz in Fuschia & Red. It embodies the brand perfectly- quirky, fashionable, and the heel elegant yet comfortable.
How would you style this shoe?
-I love a Camilla Kaftan in summer and these would look gorgeous with a bright print. Also great with a pair of white pants and a sleek shirt.
