Where we're going and what we're wearing this summer
We’ve all been hearing chatter about the reopening of international borders, but with nothing confirmed, the summer months quickly approaching, and beautiful spring weather to enjoy in the meantime, we have our eyes set on local tourism.
Being an SA-based business, we’re drawing inspiration from our beautiful home state. And naturally, we’re outfit planning already - with shoes leading the way. Below are the five spots we’ll be hitting this year and the five shoes we’ll be rocking on those outings. But none of these ideas are exclusive to SA, so interstate readers take note!
1- Coastal getaways
We live on a giant island which happens to get very hot in summer, so the beach is going to be our first destination. Whether we’re headed for a remote coastal getaway or a day at Brighton Beach, the shoe of choice will no doubt be the Billini Reid slide. It comes in both Black and Bone (off white) and we can’t imagine wanting to wear anything else.
2- Nature walks
How lucky are we to be surrounded by so much natural beauty in this country? In Adelaide especially, everything is within reach. Don’t feel like venturing too far out of the metropolitan area? Easy - consider Mount Lofty, Morialta Falls, Carrick Hill or Hallett Cove Boardwalk for a fun day trip full of stunning scenery, easy walks and fresh air. We’ll be looking to keep things comfy in the footwear department with the Rollie Weekender.
3- Rooftop bars
Non-Adelaideans, we know rooftop bars are everywhere but here in Adelaide we’re excited about the slew of new rooftop destinations overlooking our quaint little city. The Merrymaker and Sol Bar and Restaurant are at the top of our list. Needless to say we’ll be making our rounds as the weather gets balmier....which means we need the perfect shoe. Bright colours are the name of the game this season so the Kage New Bright Multi heeled sandals by Django & Juliette are an obvious choice. The subtle gold detailing on the heel makes them perfect for evenings too.
4- Wineries
Where are you planning on getting your annual winery Insta shot this year - McLaren Vale, Barossa, Clare, or Adelaide Hills? May we suggest family-owned Ten Miles East in the Adelaide Hills (you’ll thank us later, we promise). Most importantly though is what will you be wearing? We’ll let you in on our choice - the Paiton Nude Weave by Django & Juliette. Sure, you could go more casual, but after COVID our new mantra is to always dress up.
5- Arts and cultural events
Whether it’s the AGSA, SA Museum or Fringe Festival, there’s one shoe that we’re dying to trot out - the Lindars clog by Mollini Shoes. We can already see the eyerolls but trust us, the clog trend has been gaining momentum for some time. Take your pick of Tan or Black and dress them up or down. It’s a total vibe.
