How To Measure Your Feet for Perfectly Fitting Shoes
The key to buying beautiful, comfortable shoes that you’re going to love for a long time is to get your measurements right. You’d be surprised how many people are walking around wearing the wrong shoe size. Not only is this uncomfortable (and often unsightly), but it could create a whole lot of foot problems for you down the track. We don’t want you to be one of those people, which is why we’ve put together this guide to help you get your measurements right once and for all. Armed with that and our online sizing guide, you’ll be in a great position to order your favourite shoes online.
You can get your feet measured professionally by a podiatrist, use a Brannock device at a store or measure them yourself at home. Below we walk you through the process of doing this yourself at home. Keep in mind that the best time to do so is in the afternoon when your feet have swollen to their largest.
1- Grab two pieces of paper longer than the length of your foot, some tape, a pen or pencil and a ruler
2- Tape the paper to the floor with the end against a wall to stop it from slipping
3- Put on the socks that you’re intending to wear with the shoes you’ve got your eye on to make sure you accommodate for them
4- Place your foot on the paper, with your heel against the wall
5- Trace the outline of your foot, making sure not to hold the pencil at an angle to ensure an accurate measurement
6- Mark the longest and widest points of your foot on the outline and measure them for length and width
7- Repeat on the other foot - this is important as our feet are often slightly different sizes and you want to make sure that you’re accommodating for the larger foot
8- Compare against our size chart for length and width
