Too cold for sandals, too warm for boots - shoes for autumn

Autumn is here! The leaves are changing colour, the temperatures are dropping, and we have no idea what to wear. With temperatures fluctuating from day to day and hour to hour, this is one of the trickiest times of year to get dressed for. It’s getting cold but not quite cold enough to get you reaching for boots just yet, yet sandals are also completely out of the question. So what does that leave you with? Quite a lot of options, actually.

Sneakers

The trusty sneaker is perfect for in-between weather. Opt for a leather pair rather than a canvas or mesh pair to ensure a little extra warmth. The beauty of wearing sneakers in 2022 is that a) they have been upgraded to smart-casual attire, and b) are available in a range of chic designs that won’t leave you wanting for style. Our suggestion - opt for tan or white to keep things clean and polished like this Jovi White pair.

Loafers

It’s hard to miss the resurgence that loafers have been enjoying over the last few seasons. If sneakers are a touch too casual for you, loafers are definitely the way to go. From the sleek and classic penny loafer to chunky 90s-inspired styles and trendy new silhouettes, your options are endless. We’re loving these Ag-21540 Skin loafers from Neo Shoes.

Brogues and Oxfords

Similarly to loafers, brogues and Oxfords are a more polished alternative to sneakers. Perfect for office wear, choose from a range of classic choices to more trend-driven styles that will put a fashionable twist on your 9-5 looks. Also, think of experimenting with your choice of socks. Rather than going for an invisible pair, try out sheer black stockings or pairs with more experimental motifs. The Esther Black Croc Patent is a great pair.

Ballet Flats

This wardrobe staple is perfect for the transitional months, especially on those warmer days. Equally perfect for work as they are for casual days out, simply swap out your tailored pants for a nice pair of jeans and a tweed jacket for a relaxed yet polished off-duty look with one of our favourite styles from Neo Shoes - the Ag-21542 Black.

Low ankle boots

If your ankles are feeling a little more exposed than you’d like on a blustery day, a pair of transitional ankle boots with a low cuff might be the best way to go. Avoid anything with a thick lining that will make the inside of the shoe feel like a sauna. Our team is loving these styles you can shop today. The Castle Black Boots from Sala are perfect for transitional weather.
